In the shadow of Mt. Kenya the going rate for a day laborer is $2 a day. Unemployment rate is 60%. Many villagers walk 10 Kilometers each day to get water. The lifestyle is remarkable. So much so that I will in fact be remarking on it frequently. Even with all of these hardships the people are some of the happiest Ive seen. They smile, sing and dance ALL the time.
